Week 13 : Apocalypto Film Review

APOCALYPTO

Last Wednesday, my classmates and I were watching a movie titled Apocalypto. I was excited to watch the movie because I heard it is awesome. And it was right. I enjoyed watching the movie.
The story began with a group of native people went for hunting. While they were eating, Jaguar Paw heard something and it was a group of people who was searching for a new port. Their lands were ravaged and asked for permission to pass through the jungle.
The next morning, warriors entered the village and tried to burn the huts. Jaguar Paw took a quick action to save his pregnant wife and son to stay into a deep cave. He came back to help the village and there was nothing much that he could saved on. Sadly, he had to watch his father being killed in front of his eyes.
Later, warriors brought him and other alive villagers to other place. On their way, there's a man, who's getting weak and looked like dying, tried his best to continue walking until he lost his energy at a cliff, and it's nearly took Jaguar Paw's life because they were sharing same pole. It made Middle Eye, who's responsible to guard them, impressed on his ability and strength. I was like.. Wow he's really something.
Here is the part which made my heart bumping so fast. They were brought to the top of pyramid where the King had to cut out their beating hearts. When it comes to Jaguar Paw's turn, all of a sudden, a solar eclipse occured. The King and its citizen tought the sun god Kukulkan is satisfied with the sacrifices.
At first I thought, yes he's alive and now he'll be free. But my thought was wrong. Zero Wolf took the captives to a ball court. Here the captives were released in pairs and at the same time the warriors were shooting at them. However at the end of the field, there's a man named Cut Rock waiting to hit them from being escaped. Jaguar Paw and his partner did well at first, but then he's been shot in stomach while his friend through the head by an arrow. Jaguar Paw still continued to survive and managed to kill Cut Rock and ran into jungle. The warriors chased him and but he's still maintained his spirit to stay alive.
Amazingly, a black jaguar helped him and killed a warrior. Running and running til there's no way ahead made him to jump high waterfall. It was a crazy decision. We never knows what's going to happen if we jump. Luckily he's able to cross the river and the other warriors failed to jump and died. He ran straight to save his family, he was surprised because he received a baby. Trapped in a hole filled with water with no way out she had no choice but to give birth and in a split second her husband appeared and they were free.
In a conclusion, I love the ending of the story. Overall, he is a good husband, great warrior who has high spirit to fight the enemies.
In addition, from my personal point of view, I think Jaguar Paw is good looking. Hehehe. I would love to watch this movie again in the future. It was a great movie after all!

Sanctum Review

There were few explorers went to have an exploration in Esa'ala cave, Papua New Guinea. The expedition was led by a professional diver, Frank McGuire. He brought his son along, Josh to gain knowledge in this field.

Frank and diver, Judes decided to explore an unexplored section of the cave known as Devil's Restriction. All of a sudden, on their way back to the camp, Judes' hose tank snaps. With no other back up tank, Frank offered Judes his hose, and they exchanged for awhile until at one stage Judes was getting feared and refused to give back. Frank had to take a quick action in order to continue breathing and pushed her away, lastly she died in front of him. He came back alone to the camp while carrying Judes body, and everybody was worried at first what was happened to Judes.

Then, suddenly there was a storm and it filled the cave very rapidly and everybody had to find a way out. During the escape, one of the explorers, Luko, fell and badly injured until Frank drown him in a mercy killing. Frank asked Victoria to use Judes' suit because she wore inappropriate suit for diving but she rufused. As a result, her body became cold.

There's one scene that really touched my feeling, where Frank's friend named George, who suffered from decompression sickness, he made up his mind to stay behind so that he will not slow down the group. To save their lives, they need to cross the cave by using a long rope. Clearly, that was not her lucky day, Victoria's long hair trapped in the equipment. She had to cut her hair but then she fell down to the waves and died. Victoria's boyfriend, Carl really tensed up and hold a revenge to Frank because he thought it was all Frank's plan. Three of them were saved to climb to the other side of cave. Carl attacked and tried to kill Frank and they fought until Frank lay on a sharp wood. Josh ran towards his dad and killed Carl. His dad was nearly to death, and he asked Josh to let him die in the cave. He preferred to be buried in his favorite place. Josh followed his father request and drown Frank. Lastly, he swam straight to the surface by using a small tank and he succeed to swim to a nearby beach.

In a conclusion, it was a great movie based on a true story. I personally enjoy watching this movie.

Week 7 : The People I Admire Most

I was recently asked to name an extraordinary people that I admire most. It took me awhile to come up with a name, but lastly I have made up my mind, and I chose Oprah Winfrey as my idol. There are few solid reasons why I love her. She is an attractive, intelligent woman with a heart of gold. She had been through many different obstacles in her entire life, but she manage to pick herself up every time and today she has become the inspiration of women everywhere. She is now a billionnaire, most admired woman in the world. :-bd

Her childhood was the worst time in her life. She used to wear dresses made of potato sacks. Her family was poor and she lived with her mother who was a single mother and both of them were struggled to survive. Sadly, at age 9, she was being raped by her own cousin, and uncle. And at age 14, she became pregnant and her baby boy died shortly after giving birth. And it could be a reason why til today she's still unmarried even though she has a boyfriend named Stedman Graham. :)
She became succesful because she owns a talk show, 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' which has runned nationally since September 8, 1986 and until today! In addition, her talk show is publishing all over the world. She is very generous, she loves to donate and do charity events. She would lend a hand to those who needed.O:-)
She built a school in South Africa, The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in order to provide educational and leadership opportunities for African girls. Last but not least, she is a greatest lady and she will remain to be one of my idols. All her efforts and outcomes are appreciated by society. :)

Week 3 : Critical Issues in Education

Almost every day we read about vandalisms that occur at school. A school is supposedly to be a safe heaven for the students to have a better study. These vandalisms could be avoided if preventive measures are taken to keep the school vandalisms-free zone. At the same time, I keep questioning myself how could this kind of thing happened among students? What are the contribution factors to this matter? I have figured out some relevant causes to this problem personally.

Firstly, these growing up teenagers are lack of parental control and they keen on getting attention by doing these unacceptable actions. To make it worse, they show their talent in bullying in school and sometimes the victims are lead to death. It clearly shows that the inculcation of good behavior begins at home.

Besides the family, the next most important place to inculcate good behavior is the school.  However, if the school rules are not strict enough, students will keep continue their vandalism activity bravely. If the child or teenager keeps good company, he will develop good behavior and mannerism. But in this case, we already know with whom they have been friend with.

Undoubtedly, religion does play a vital role in inculcating good behavior.  A god-fearing person will practice good behavior as he/she does not want to commit a sin purposely. I am sure that we agree that religion is the guide that enlightens our journey in this world. Clearly, these problematic teenagers are not afraid of God. Therefore, they could do these vandalism activities or even murder a person.

In conclusion, the responsibility towards this matter should take as a joint responsibility of internal and external factors. The internal factors here refer to the teenager’s surroundings such as their parents and their family members. The external factors, on the other hand, refer to the school, teachers, peers and their surroundings as well as the government. All these factors must come to play to ensure the positive changes in vandalism among these problematic teenagers.  :-h

Week 2 : Do you think that Deborah Parry should be allowed to go back at work?

Honestly, I do not agree with this suggestion. She has been convicted as a killer, how could on earth she could get back to work again? With her previous record, clearly stated that she was a killer even though there's no hard evidence to proof on what she did. It could be she has been used, a victim of the scene, who knows? But yet, people still assume that she is a dangerous person.

We won't let a person like her to get back her uniform, because it might frighten other people. Patients could be feel insecure with treatment at that hospital because murderer is mingle around! Let say, I was admitted at the hospital, and I was treated by her. I rather die before I let this murder touch me, seriously! Supposedly, criminals were not supposed to profit from their crimes. It may give other perspective to other people out there, they might think, it is okay if I do something illegally, yet I still accepted by others. Which is, no and wrong! Government should play their role on this case.

There's an idiom, 'Let bygones be bygones'. But in this case, we could not accept it at all. It feels like, this kind of news is haunting people's mind and yes surely it is frighten them. Especially to those who were living in London at that time. I bet most of people were scared to get a treatment at that particular hospital, Holy Cross Hospital.

Last but not least, these are all my piece of minds, I am sure everybody has their own thought and different from mine. And I have some suggestions that have been crossed to my mind. And I am still wondering why it's not been done at that time till now. Supposedly, the police and government should pay more attention and give their best on finding the cause and evidence towards this case. This woman was very tricky and careful in handling this case and free from any evidence. It brought no big surprises because she was a nurse for 16 years old, and of course she was very smart in this matter. :ar!
